Parent Consultations
Parenting can be stressful and draining at times. We have all been there! We want our children to be happy and do well, whether they are at home, at school, or out and about in the community. This isn’t always the case, though. If your child is neurodivergent, or has been diagnosed with ADHD, ASD, or learning challenges, this can adds another very stressful layer.

There are times when we aren’t sure exactly what is going on with our child, not sure they have the proper diagnosis, or not sure they are in the right educational setting. Sometimes we just aren’t sure what to do when it comes to managing our child’s behaviors. The goal is to make things better and minimize undesired behaviors. Oftentimes, our initial reaction to behaviors can make things worse. This is why I am here! It’s not easy to see things clearly or objectively, when we are emotionally involved. It’s helpful to have an experienced, skilled, and knowledgeable person to guide you through solving these challenges.
When our children struggle, we struggle, and that can impact many aspects of our lives.
Together, we can figure out what is happening and then develop a plan! The goal, is to reduce everyone’s stress and improve functioning at school, home, and in the community.

Behaviors
I hear the word “Behaviors” often, so you are not alone! And no, it does not mean you are a terrible parent, if your child is struggling with behaviors or big emotions!
Behaviors in our children, at home, at school, or in the community, can cause anxiety, stress, frustration, helplessness, and/or feelings of being completely overwhelmed and judged. If you know what I am talking about, I hope you will provide me with the opportunity to help you and your child.
I’ve continually said, “Meet a child’s needs and there are no behaviors”, or the behaviors are reduced in frequency and severity.
Think of behaviors as a form of communication a child uses when they are trying to express something that they may not have the words for, or may not understand themselves.
A child’s needs may not be so easy to figure out or understand. Also, their needs can change from situation to situation, and as they age. This is why I am here!
I will work collaboratively with you to develop an understanding of the root cause of your child’s behaviors. This is the key and so important! It’s not always easy to figure out or understand, which is why we need to work together. You know your child better than anyone and I bring many years of experience, knowledge, and the ability to see things from a different lens. Once we understand the potential root cause of the behaviors, we can develop a plan.
I truly understand that no two children are alike and I will not simply categorize your child into a box. I take the time and make the effort to develop a deep understanding of your child.
Special needs students and schools

This is where I am a fierce advocate for your child. I will collaborate with you, your child's providers, teachers, school, and attorney, as a part of your child’s team.
The goal is to set your child up, to the extent possible, to both thrive and succeed.
There is so much to know about navigating the school system for special needs students. You want to ensure that your child’s needs are being met. It can be completely draining and overwhelming, so I am here to provide support and guidance.
I also have some amazing referrals, should you choose to work with an attorney/advocate as well.
